FAQ Section
Tell me more about this Barcode Database?
We are a centralised database of information about Ethiopian products and barcode numbers. We store and manage product information that is associated with each barcode – the information we provide includes product names, descriptions, prices, manufacturer details, and other relevant data. The barcode numbers in this database were either purchased from, or registered through, the International Barcodes Network (or its authorized representative Ethiopian Barcodes).
How do I look up a barcode number or a product?
You can look up a barcode number or product by using the Search tool box on the top of our home page, or on the International Barcode Registry (ibnverified.org) website.
Which products and barcodes are included in this database?
This database includes data on barcodes that have been purchased from, or registered through the International Barcodes Network and its authorised member Ethiopian Barcodes. The International Barcodes Network runs two databases: https://barcodesdatabase.org/ and https://ibnverified.org/. This site displays products registered in those databases.
Is this a complete database of all barcode numbers and products?
This is not a complete database. We only provide information about barcode numbers that have been issued by, or registered through, the International Barcodes Network and Ethiopian Barcodes.
What is the International Barcodes Network (IBN)?
The International Barcodes Network (IBN) is a large global network of over 100 barcode suppliers and websites worldwide, with Ethiopian Barcodes being an official network member.
How to Register Your Barcodes
If you want to register your barcodes you have two options:
If you don’t have a barcode number yet:
Buy barcodes directly from Ethiopian Barcodes. They are official members of the International Barcodes Network (IBN), so their barcodes are automatically eligible for free online registration.
After you purchase a barcode, you will receive an email containing your barcode, image files, and instructions for how to register it on the https://barcodesdatabase.org/ online database (products registered on that database will also automatically appear in the https://ibnverified.org/ database).
If you already have a barcode number for your product:
If you already have a barcode number from a different barcode seller, you can register it at Ethiopian Barcodes Barcode Registration (you will need to provide proof that you are the legal owner of the barcode).
After that, you will receive an email with instructions for how to register your barcode on the https://barcodesdatabase.org/ online database (products registered will also automatically appear in the https://ibnverified.org/ database).
What are the benefits of barcode registration?
Barcode registration is not compulsory (you can use your barcode numbers without registering your barcodes); however, registration will increase the profile of your product and brand on the internet. Barcode registration makes it easier for retailers and customers to find your product and company information online, and helps prevent theft or accidental misuse of your barcodes.
After you’ve registered your barcodes, your product and barcode information will appear in multiple online barcode databases – including this website, the International Barcode Registry (ibnverified.org) and the International Barcodes Database. Your barcode and product information will be visible in Google search engine results and when scanned by the Zebra barcode app (available on Android and Apple phones).
How to Buy Barcodes
You can buy certified retail barcodes directly from Ethiopian Barcodes – official member of the International Barcodes Network selling certified, registered barcodes for local and worldwide use.
The barcodes will be sent to you automatically by email straight away in standard graphic formats along with a guarantee certificate and instructions for registration and use. After registration, your product information will be indexed by Google and discoverable by barcode scanning apps.
